Pipedream is an integration layer for agents: 10,000+ prebuilt tools, 3,000+ APIs, managed per-user auth, and one MCP endpoint. Swytchcode is the execution layer for the call itself, including APIs whose published spec is incomplete.

The verdict
Pipedream is the stronger choice when each end user must connect their own accounts and you want a large catalog of prebuilt tools behind one MCP server. Swytchcode is the stronger choice when the hard part is the API call: the right method and version, a safe retry, and a response check before the agent treats the call as done.

Feature by feature
Pipedream's homepage describes itself as the integration layer for AI agents: managed auth and 10,000+ tools across 3,000+ APIs. Connect stores each user's credentials. A remote MCP server, an SDK, or the Connect proxy then calls the API with those credentials.
Pipedream is built so an agent acts as an external user. One user with several connected apps counts once, and Startup includes 100 of those users. Swytchcode injects credentials for the integration, including shared service credentials, and can connect end-user accounts on paid plans. It is not a hosted catalog of 10,000 prebuilt actions.
If Pipedream has no prebuilt tool, the Connect proxy sends the HTTP you specify and attaches the user's token. The agent still has to know the method, version, and fields. Swytchcode gives the agent a manifest for that call, retries it, and checks the response body. A success status with an error in the body is a failure.
Pipedream's free plan includes every feature in development, including the connectors, tools, and MCP servers. Serving real external users requires Startup. As of October 2026 that is $99 a month billed annually, or $150 billed monthly, with 10,000 usage credits included. A credit is one action, MCP tool call, proxy request, or trigger event per 30 seconds of compute.
Choose Pipedream when you are shipping an agent that acts through each customer's Slack, Gmail, or other SaaS account, and you want that catalog and OAuth hosted. Business adds SSO, SCIM, HIPAA, and dedicated static egress IPs. Pipedream did not publish a usable skills.md at pipedream.com/skills.md as of October 2026.
Choose Swytchcode when the agent is calling a production API and a wrong field, a bad retry, or a false success is the failure. The CLI or MCP server runs the call with auth, retries, idempotency, and schema validation. Use Pipedream for the user's OAuth catalog. Use Swytchcode where the vendor spec cannot be trusted.
