Arcade is an actions runtime for agents: per-user authorization, a large catalog of agent-oriented tools, and a control plane for MCP. Swytchcode is the execution layer for the API call, built for production systems whose docs and sequences are not safe for a model to invent.

The verdict
Arcade is the stronger choice when each end user must authorize the agent, and you want a large catalog of agent-optimized tools with central governance. Swytchcode is the stronger choice when the hard part is the API itself: auth for your own systems, safe retries, idempotency, and a response check before the agent continues. Arcade did not publish a skills.md; its docs are in llms.txt.

Feature by feature
Arcade's docs describe three jobs: enforce per-action authorization against the user and your IdP, execute agent-optimized tools, and govern them from one registry. The about page, updated 9 September 2026, cites 7,500+ tools across 81 MCP servers. arcade.dev/llms.txt still says 7,000+ integrations, so the two public counts do not match. Swytchcode's job is narrower and lower in the stack: make the vendor call correct.
Arcade is built so an agent acts as an end user. If Gmail send is not authorized, Arcade runs the OAuth prompt. Swytchcode injects the credentials for the integration, including shared service credentials, and can also connect end-user accounts on paid plans. It is not primarily a hosted OAuth broker for thousands of consumer toolkits.
Arcade's llms.txt says execution includes parallelized calls, automatic failover, and intelligent retries. Swytchcode also retries. It additionally keys write calls so a retry does not create a second charge, ticket, or record, and it validates the response body against the manifest.
Arcade's public catalog is SaaS and enterprise apps such as Gmail, Slack, GitHub, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Workday, plus remote MCP servers you register. Swytchcode is for calling a vendor API whose published spec is incomplete. Arcade has no public skills.md. Its agent docs are at https://arcade.dev/llms.txt and https://docs.arcade.dev/llms.txt.
Choose Arcade when you are shipping user-facing agents that must act with each person's OAuth grant, you want a large prebuilt tool catalog, and security needs one enforcement point with audit logs. The free tier includes 2,000 tool calls and 2,000 auth events a month. Team is $25 a month plus usage, as listed in October 2026.
Choose Swytchcode when the agent is calling your company's APIs and a wrong retry or a stale field is the failure mode. It runs as a CLI or MCP server, with idempotency and schema validation on the call. The two overlap on tool execution. They do not overlap on iPaaS, and Arcade is the one built first for per-user authorization.
